Our Family Mini-Break in JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka

I have a lot of travel blog posts to catch up on – starting with our fun weekend away at JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka in June. We attended the “Rosseau Reveal” event, which celebrated the redesigned public spaces in the hotel. We’ve been coming to the JW Marriott as a family for over 5 years now – we’ve always loved the mix of luxury surroundings plus cottage activities – so we were excited to check out the changes to the decor. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and walked around the beautiful grounds before heading up to the patio for a cocktail party with amazing live music (I shared a clip in the video below). One room had a king-bed, while the other had a mini-kitchenette, dining area plus a comfy pull-out sofa bed for the kids. I shared a quick room tour in the video at the end of this post. We started our Monday morning with a delicious breakfast at Cottages restuarant. We then headed down to the dock to check out the waterfront activities. My sister had rented a cottage nearby, so we left the resort and spent the evening with them. We’ve both done yoga before, but it was our first time trying it outdoors – and it was such a beautiful experience, looking out over the stunning scenery while going through our poses. I loved my Girlfriends’ Getaway to Muskoka, and it was amazing to come back again with my family this time! The weather was perfect and we spent so much time swimming and outdoors. The redesign of the lobby, living room and public spaces was undertaken by Toronto design team mackaywong. They did an amazing job at adding a sleek modern look, while integrating Muskoka-specific elements, such as canoe-paddles behind the lobby desk, birch bark wall paper and art work by local artists. My favourite room was the Muskoka room (shown above, and in the first pic in this post). I love the dramatic blue panelling and over-sized lampshades against the white shiplap wall. In this lobby pic, you can see the canoe paddles behind the front desk. The light installation is so original too – it’s a beehive with bees! Here’s a look at the Lakes Bar – with another dramatic light fixture and pretty marble countertops against an intense blue backdrop. We loved checking out the Rosseau Reveal – and can’t wait to come back for more visits in the future! Check out some clips of my visit in the video below: DISCLAIMER: This post was written in collaboration with JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka.
